 Are you a pet lover?  Have you ever lost a beloved dog or cat, never to be seen again?

Whether you have a dog, cat, bird, horse or kinkaju, there are ways to protect your pets from loss and theft.  Today's technology, coupled with some old-school ways, now offers many different methods of keeping your pets safe where they belong; home with you!

But how do you choose between ID tags, microchips, tattoos, or the latest in pet safety, GPS pet tracking?

That's what we're here for.  We'll show you the pros and cons of each method, highlight their features and tell you what they cost.  Then, the choice is yours!

Let's start off with some basics tips:

1.  No matter what method you use to identify your pet, always make sure your information is current.  An old home address or phone number won't be any help in getting your animal back.  And just in case, leave the phone number of a trusted friend or relative.

2.  Consider using two ways of IDing your pet; collars and tags may be old-fashioned, but they are the first thing most people look for when they've found a lost pet.  And, since collars can be easily lost (or thrown away in the event of theft), a microchip or tattoo serves as an excellent back-up method.

3.  Yes, even indoor animals need protection.  Doors or windows can be left open, allowing your pet to escape.  Wouldn't you feel better knowing that you'll have a better chance of finding your beloved pet if such a thing happens?
